GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Kattie Ruth Maxey Predelus, 85, of Greenville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. She died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.
She was born July 25, 1934, to Ruth Reese and Sidney Boose, deceased, of Glen Allan. During her youth, milestones were achieved by her maternal and paternal relatives as they became prominent leaders during the Civil Rights Movement. After graduating high school, she married Willie Kingdom Sr., deceased. To this union, 11 children were born. She continued her collegiate education during her residency in Mississippi and Florida. She moved to Greenville in the mid 1950s with her husband in an era where Greenville was becoming well integrated with the Civil Rights Movement. Delta Ministry is where she began a career in the mid 1960s to continue to carry the torch with her affiliation with leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., with family hour following from 5-6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
