Larry Byars Sr.
GREENVILLE — Larry Tyrone Byars Sr., 82, of Greenville, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Delta Regional Medical Center. He was born in Washington County to the late Sentelmore and Sarah Brady-Byars.
He graduated from Coleman High School and further advanced his education at T. J. Harris Jr. College in Meridian, completing his education at Mississippi Valley State University, Itta Bena, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Industrial Arts.
He was a retired educator from GPSD and Sunflower County School District after 35 years.
Larry’s legacy will continue by his survivors, his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Gloria; his children, Angela and Garrick L. Rainey Sr., of Cordova, Tennessee; Shondra (Esker) Smith, of Madison; his namesake, Larry Tyrone Byars Jr., of Greenville; eight loving grandchildren; a very special family friend, Dr. Dorothy Smith–Nelson; his brothers, Houston (Shirley) Byars, Kenny (Patricia) Byars, Gregory (Geraldine) Byars, and Douglas Byars, of Greenville; his sisters, Sarah Haney, Josephine People, Lubertha (Levon) Hall, Sally Ann (George) Williams and Mae Frances Tyler, all of Greenville; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and family.
Mr. Larry “T-Man” Byars will be loved by family and friends forever.
