GREENVILLE — Leartes Trotter, 58, of Greenville, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty Maude Trotter.
Leartes was the second of seven children. He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed being outdoors. Family, friends and strangers frequently called on Leartes for his expertise in areas of mechanics, carpentry, cooking and gardening. He truly enjoyed helping others and lived life to the fullest.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Rita Meeks; two sons and a stepson, Leartes Mario Meeks, Kenny Meeks and McCarthy Norris; two sisters, Alice (Jerry) Trotter Johnson and Audrey Trotter; four brothers, Elevester (Equilla) Trotter Jr., Clarence (Tonya) Trotter, Dion (Evelyn) Trotter and Robert (Tonya) Trotter; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his partner, Zellena Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A memorial service and reception will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Greenville Higher Education Center (GHEC), 2900 Mississippi 1, Greenville.
