Nathaniel Chew Jr.
GREENVILLE — Graveside services for Nathaniel Chew Jr., 69, of Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Delta Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Robert E. Kimble officiating. He died July 29, 2020, at Delta Regional Medical Center. Services are under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville, MS.
He was born July 25, 1951, to Nathaniel Chew Sr. and Amanda Bell Chew. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1969. He attended Jackson State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in history in 1973. He established Chew’s Washateria, being an entrepreneur by nature as he was truly a people person and loved helping others. He was dedicated and hardworking at Dollar General distribution center at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Chew Sr. and Amanda Bell Chew.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Lenard Chew; daughters, Travia Harris, of Dover, PA, Monica Mitchell, of Las Vegas, NV, Kandace Chew-Brumfield, of Ft. Worth, TX; a son, Nathaniel Chew III, of Greenville; five grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Richardson, Demetrius Buck, Amanda Terrie Chew and Carriestein Brantley, all of Greenville; brothers, Quinine Chew, of Calbot, AR, and Donald Chew, of Greenville; and a very special brother and sister, Archie and Avis Clark, of Greenville.
