Sadie Tharp
GREENVILLE — Sadie Belle Smith Tharp left this earth to go to her heavenly home on November 26, 2020. Born on April 27, 1936, in Dawson, PA, she was the daughter of Clarence and Anna Belle Kirkpatrick.
Sadie grew up in a large family and lived in “the holler” in PA. She met and married Jessie Smith in CA in 1955, moved to MS and they were blessed by God with a large wonderful family. Sadie loved her family and friends dearly. She had the love of Christ in her heart and it was apparent to all who met her.
She was a woman with a giving heart, and such a gentle soul. She loved to sew and crochet and give her gifts to everyone. She loved the Lord and she put her faith to work often while she served others. She believed in helping the less fortunate and she loved all people, regardless of their background or stature. She truly believed in helping everyone she could, and would give you her last dime if she felt you needed it more than her.
Sadie loved her children and her grandchildren with all of her heart and always wanted them to know they were welcome in her home anytime and would help them in any way they needed help. She was a true gift from God to her children.
In her free time, she enjoyed gospel music, Patsy Cline and Chris Stapleton. She was a wonderful cook and passed that along to her daughters. She also enjoyed puzzles, cards and making funny selfies with her beloved Maddie. She loved to travel to Texas to see her sweet Kaitlynn and Elijah. She loved spending the summer and holidays with Chase and Tristan. She talked often about being able to hold her sweet Kaiden. She also spoke often of seeing “the boys”, Jessie, Jason and Jeff, and of “the twins” Donnie and Terry and Jennifer, and Bubba, Michael and Sandra. Oh, how she loved to see all of her grands.
There wasn’t much Sadie couldn’t do and her family was blessed because of all the great memories, love and laughter she gave them over the years. She was fighter and yet she was ready to meet the Lord should He call her home. Her family has comfort knowing that she is with her heavenly Father. The legacy she leaves behind will be cherished forever.
Sadie is survived by her daughters Peg & Franky Muirhead, Nancy and Bobby Rodgers, Crystal Tharp and Terry Sartin, Cheryl Smith, and daughter in heart, Marsha and Randy Stokes. She has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and her siblings.
Sadie was met in Heaven by her first love Jessie, and her beloved sons, Larry, Jessie and Charles, her dear friend Pollock Smith and her parents and brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Charleston Place in Fulton for the love and care they gave their beloved mother.
