Honeybees remain perfect
The Greenville High School girls basketball team moved its record to 18-0 Friday night with an impressive 70-50 road victory over Warren Central.
Junior Jeanee Anderson made seven three points and led the Honeybees with 26 points. Anderson was one of four Greenville players to score in double digits. Clarkaju Warren scored 10 points and also had a team-high nine rebounds and Lazericka Rhodes scored 12 points. Anderson also had four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Jakayla Williams scored 11 points. Mary Starnes scored eight points and also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists,.
The Honeybees got off to a fast start and led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter, but were outscored by six points in the second quarter.
Greenville opened things up in the third quarter by outscoring Warren Central 28-16.
Greenville will look to go 19-0 when it travels to Provine High School tonight.
Anderson and Warren lead the Honeybees in scoring this season. Warren is averaging 15.5 points per game. Anderson is averaging 15.4 points per game. Starnes leads Greenville this season in assists (5.5) and rebounds (7.7).
Warren Central 71, Greenville boys 61
The Hornets were outscored 18-4 in the first quarter and were never able to dig out of the hole they created despite outscoring Warren Central in the last three quarters.
Danny Washington led Greenville with 20 points, and Morgan Green scored 18 points. Senior Donald Clark finished with 12 points, and Shermichael Young finished with seven points.
The Hornets’ record fell to 12-6, and Greenville will look to get back on the winning track when it travels to Provine tonight.
Provine has an 11-6 record, but has won its last five games.
