“Simply amazing,” is how St. Joseph Catholic School coach James Hunter described Dillon Johnson’s performance against Bayou Academy Friday night.
Johnson scored a school-record 53 points in the game in which the Figting Irish fell 73-68.
“Dillon was on fire. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. He was making it from everywhere,” Hunter said. “And the best part is that they were good shots.”
It was not just Friday night that Johnson has been torching opposing defenses.
Fresh off quarterbacking his Fighting Irish football team to another state championship, Dillon stepped right onto the hard court and immediately began making a difference.
The Fighting irish, who were scheduled to host Delta Street on Monday, have a 10-6 record heading into the final portion of the season. They have earned a three seed when their conference tournament begins in Yazoo City.
“We are putting the pieces together, and we are getting better,” Hunter said.
