Missing a friend

The passenger seat in Morgan Green’s Infinity truck is empty these days as Morgan drives to school each day.

The seat was always reserved for Morgan’s best friend, Jeremiah ‘Dugg’ Williams, who died from a football injury last November.

Bzzzzzz! Honeybees go to 25-0

CLEVELAND — The Greenville High School girls basketball team increased its perfect record to 25-0 with a 34-26 victory over Cleveland Central High School Tuesday night.

After winning their previous seven games by more than 20 points, the Honeybees have won their last two game by eight and six points respectively.

Reaching for the stars

LELAND - In basketball, there are point guards and in more recent years the combo guard or point forward. But the Leland High School Lady Cubs girls basketball team may have a point center in the form of Corianna Wheatley. She can guard smaller players.

LELAND— The Leland Lady Cubs handled the West Tally Lady Choctaws easily Friday 63-28 in high school basketball action. In a game that was decided very early, the Leland High School girls basketball team poured it on a little more in the second half.

Total teamwork

Moments after his team had defeated visiting Kirk 58-42 Friday night, Washington School boys basketball coach David Rounsavall looked at the scorebook pleased.

The scores next to each his key players were well distributed, meaning his belief that his players played unselfishly was validated.

Great brothers

Deer Creek School’s Tommy and Hunter Sims have such a great connection that many times when they are on the basketball court neither of them needs to say a word.

A simple gesture or facial expression let’s the other know where to go.

Tommy, a senior, is the Deer Creek point guard. Hunter, a junior, is the Deer Creek center.
