JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor says a Louisiana-based transportation company will pay more than $25,000 in back wages to 21 employees at its terminal in Jackson, Mississippi.

The department says in a Wednesday news release that Statewide Transport Incorporated violated overtime and record-keeping requirements.

Investigators with the department's wage and hour division determined that the Hammond, Louisiana-based company failed to pay drivers of smaller delivery vehicles overtime for more than 40 work hours per week.

Wage and Hour Division District Director Audrey Hall said in a statement on the findings that employers can make costly violations when they are not fully aware of legal requirements.
