Arden Home Health and Hospice celebrated the launch of its new hospice services Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Greenville location, 1436 Highway 1.
The new hospice program expands Arden’s mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care that honors life at every stage. Guided by the belief that “Your Life Matters,” the company aims to celebrate every chapter of life—from beginning to end.
Founded in Mississippi by Abb Payne, Arden carries a deep sense of community and family tradition. Payne, a former president and CEO of Camellia Home Health & Hospice, has long been dedicated to advancing compassionate care in the state. During his leadership, Camellia was named Best Place to Work in Mississippi for more than a decade.
Payne said his passion for care was inspired by his grandmother, with whom he delivered Meals on Wheels as a child.
“We’re Mississippians taking care of Mississippians—and it’s a team effort,” Payne said. Arden’s team, known as the “A-Team,” includes skilled and compassionate professionals who view caregiving as both a calling and a privilege. The company emphasizes respect, dignity, and comfort for patients and families while fostering a supportive and rewarding workplace for employees.
Chief Operating Officer Pat Patterson highlighted the company’s people-first culture.
“Employees share in the success of the company,” Patterson said. “Arden values the opinions of its employees and recognizes the commitment they make every day.”
Through recent acquisitions—including Hospice Ministries, Solace Hospice Inc., and Unity Hospice Care Inc.—Arden now serves 70 counties across Mississippi. Its local teams are deeply connected to the communities they serve, ensuring personalized care tailored to individual needs and traditions.
“To truly care for people, you must be empathetic,” Payne said. “People are coming to you in their greatest time of need, and they are trusting you to take care of them.”
Arden’s leadership hopes to redefine the standard of hospice care by combining clinical excellence with heartfelt compassion. The organization invites healthcare professionals, caregivers, and families to join them in their mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Mississippians.
