GPD investigates weekend homicide

Local authorities are searching for the person responsible for the shooting death of a man this weekend.

At about 9 p.m. Sunday night, officers with the Greenville Police Department received a call in reference to a shooting in the 400 block of Mississippi 1 S., according to assistant police chief Michael Merchant.

David Brown pled guilty to Second Degree Murder in Washington County Circuit Court, District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today.

Richardson said, “David Brown was set for trial on this week of court, but instead he pled guilty before Judge Carrol White-Richard on Monday.”

The three men charged with capital murder for the shooting death of Kenneth Mason have each been handed $5 million bonds this week.

Eighteen-year-old Donnell Corbin and 20-year-old Devonte Jones, both of Greenville, and 21-year-old Fredrick Pearson Jr., of Indianola, were handed a $5 million bond each Wednesday.

Three charged in murder

Three men have been charged with capital murder for the shooting death of Kenneth Mason. 

Eighteen-year-old Donnell Corbin and 20-year-old Devonte Jones, both of Greenville, and 21-year-old Fredrick Pearson Jr., of Indianola, have been charged and are awaiting their initial court appearance this afternoon.

Three men deemed as persons of interest have been taken into custody for the shooting death of one local man.

Several deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department were canvassing Tampa Drive through a traffic stop Monday afternoon as they were following leads on the death of 52-year-old Kenneth Mason.
