The Progressive Art and Civic Club Youth gathered Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, for their regular monthly meeting, where members kicked off a celebration of Dr. Seuss Week.
Junior girls, junior boys and little girls participated in a series of fun, themed activities centered on reading Dr. Seuss books and sharing ideas inspired by the stories. The activities encouraged creativity, discussion and a love for reading among the youth.
One of the highlights of the meeting was an “All About Me” activity, where participants completed a worksheet and shared their answers with others. The exercise allowed the children to learn more about one another’s interests, likes and dislikes while building friendships within the group. The activity created an exciting and engaging environment for the youth.
Club President Lynda Hughes expressed appreciation for the volunteers who helped organize the event.
“As president, I want to thank the sponsors for taking the time to plan such a wonderful activity,” Hughes said.
Hughes also recognized several club members for their support and dedication, including Linda Anderson, Sadie Gray, Janice Jelks, Mazie Whalen and Jamelda Fulton.
The organization also extended special thanks to parents and grandparents who brought children to participate in the meeting and support the club’s mission.
The Progressive Art and Civic Club continues its commitment to mentoring young people and encouraging growth through community engagement, guided by its motto, “Lifting as we climb.”
