Greenville lit its Christmas tree Monday night, but that’s not all, Schelben Park also got a Christmas makeover. Mary Catherine Brooks, the Chamber Director at Washington County Economic Alliance was almost brought to tears when she saw her handiwork lit up at the park.
She wasn’t alone, the stunning beauty of the waterfront park decorated for Christmas was a sight to behold. Brooks said she wasn’t sure how it was going to look because she’d been too busy doing the work to think about it. With the help of Greenville’s public works, and buildings and grounds departments Greenville has transformed itself into a Christmas wonderland,
The tree was lit at 5:30 p.m. and then the hundreds that had gathered for the event made their way up to the levee to see the park, and have hot cocoa and cookies provided by Greenville’s FoodCorps.
