The Third Annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Parade got off on time and under budget, with police cars and Fire trucks, preceding the Color Guard, the CMS Choir, and the Greenville High School band, marching in time on Washington Avenue toward the war memorial, upon completing the route all of the participants formed a loose half circle around a podium set up in front of the War Memorial, where Mike Jones, the Parade’s organizer became the Master of Ceremonies, and said, “Eighty-two years ago today 2,403 Americans lost their lives at Pearl Harbor, a very sad and powerful day in U.S. history, the attack destroyed the USS Arizona, and the USS Oklahoma.” he said.
Jones then welcomed Councilman Al Brock up to speak a few words, he reminded everyone that those who died did so defending this great nation of ours.
The crowds were filled with Veterans who immediately removed their hats as Boy Scout Colton Hanson began to play taps for the crowd, the Color Guard stood at attention presenting arms, and the ceremony was at an end on a somber note.
