Mayor Errick D. Simmons saluted Greenville Mid Delta Airport’s Director Sam Washington for his dedicated service and commitment to the City of Greenville.
“Mr. Washington, who took the Airport to higher heights and is now moving up to serve the Jackson, Mississippi Airport,” said Simmons. “The Greenville City Council, himself, and Airport staff thank Mr. Washington for his leadership, service, and dedication in moving Greenville Mid-Delta Airport confidently forward, we wish him much success in his new endeavors.”
Sam Washington’s final day was Nov. 16.
“Today marks the end of a journey that began just over five-and-a-half years ago, today is my final day as Airport Director of your Greenville Mid Delta Airport. I have been given a wonderful opportunity with the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, which I will begin next week. Although I am indeed saddened to leave the wonderful Airport staff and many colleagues that I have come to know, I am very excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.” Washington said, “Greenville has a hidden gem in this Airport and with historic investments being made by the City Council and the signing of a lease with a base tenant, GKAM, I see great things ahead for the Airport and for the City of Greenville. I hope to be able to come back and visit when GKAM lands the first aircraft and taxis it to Hangar 450. Until then, may God smile upon each of you, may His face ever shine upon you, and may His blessings fill your cups to overflowing.”
