Wednesday, Feb 28, Oliver Johnson President of the Greenville Public School District Board of Trustees said, “At last night's board meeting, the board voted 4-1 to negotiate a two-year contract with Dr. Janice Monroe as the Superintendent of Greenville Public School District with Board Member Anjohnette Gibbs Walton, Board Secretary Samuel Newsom, Jr, Vice President Jan Vaughn, and Board President Oliver Johnson voting in favor, and Board Member Antoinette Williams voting against.”
Johnson said, “The board believes that Dr. Monroe, who has held the Interim title on several occasions for extended periods, is the person who will move the district forward successfully, Dr. Monroe has worked with GPSD for many years as our Special Education Director and is knowledgeable as to the needs of our district and the direction that we need to go in," said Johnson, "The board believes that removing the Interim title will bring the stability and continuity that our students, parents, stakeholders, and the community need to continue to provide excellence for all."
