The Greenville Arts Council (GAC) is proud to announce the recent hire of Ame Katherine Sellars as the Community Arts Coordinator for the organization. In her new role, Sellars will assist with planning, promoting, and overseeing GAC events, among other duties.
Sellars graduated in May 2024 from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication, concentrating in Public Relations and Digital Journalism and Broadcasting. She also minored in Art and Film Studies. During her time at Mississippi State, she was actively involved in several organizations, including the Public Relations Students of Mississippi, Public Relations Students of America, and the Fashion Board. Before joining GAC, Sellars completed internships with the Mississippi State Athletics Department and the media brand Girl’s Club. A native of Greenville, MS, she graduated from Washington School in May 2020.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ame Katherine to the GAC and Bass family,” said Mary Catherine Brooks, Board President. “She brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience with her educational and volunteer background. Our Board is very confident in our decision to hire Ame Katherine to lead all GAC events and programming, and we encourage the community to stop by her office at E.E. Bass and welcome her into her new role.”
As the Community Arts Coordinator, Sellars will be responsible for organizing and executing a variety of events, including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra public performance and educational performances, the Do Drink the Brown Water literary series, Malkin Gallery exhibits and receptions, Cocktails at the Carousel, and arts events and classes for both adults and children. Additionally, she will be recruiting volunteers, managing event marketing, and securing sponsorships and donations.
The Greenville Arts Council’s mission is to promote the rich cultural heritage of the region and to stimulate and encourage cultural activities, arts appreciation, arts education, and the creative works of artists. The E.E. Bass Foundation works diligently to build a strong, vibrant community by providing a space for various cultural events, ranging from community theater to art exhibits and lectures. Founded in 1983, GAC serves as a community hub for all arts-related activities, from theater and dance to music, visual, and literary arts.
