Per Hollandale Police Chief Marcus Davis, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department was called to assist the Hollandale Police Department after several reports of shooting in residential areas were received Sunday night.
Upon arrival, Davis — the lone responding officer — found himself “in the middle of a shootout between several masked gunmen.”
According to Davis, the shootout took place between the Teal Bay Apartments on Martin Luther King Drive and the Sanders Estates on Sanders Street, where at least five homes were shot into.
Davis said there were approximately six gunmen and some were carrying assault rifles.
No injuries were reported.
“The Hollandale Police Department is investigating the incidents and seeking ways to increase the city’s patrol as Hollandale prepares for its Memorial Day Weekend festivities,” he added.
