The Greenville Police Department is investigating the city’s latest homicide that left a 19-year-old male dead.
The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the 1700 block of Alexander Street, according to Greenville Police Chief Marcus Turner.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Derrick Hutchins, of Greenville. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Washington County Coroners Officer.
During the shooting, an innocent bystander was also injured and is now recovering in a “nearby hospital,” according to Chief Turner.
“The motive behind the shooting is unclear, but Investigators have identified a person of interest,” he said.
