Police have issued an arrest warrant of aggravated assault for a man who injured a woman after pinning her between two vehicles and fled the scene.
At 8:10 p.m. Sunday, May 23, Chiconna Bowman, 44, said she was outside her place of business, Cee Bee’s Cafe & Grill on Walnut Street, speaking to a customer who was inside her vehicle when a truck being driven by a white male approached them.
“He saw her truck there and he saw me standing there but he continued to move forward. By this time, I’m waving for him to go around because there were no oncoming cars coming,” Bowman said.
Bowman said she continued to try to tell him to drive around and he didn’t listen.
“Instead of going around, he inches closer like he’s going to run into the back of her truck. At this time, I’m looking at him like ‘Seriously!,’” Bowman said. “So one more time I try to wave him around. He looks at me, puts his truck in reverse to back up and then he puts it in drive and mashes the gas, running into me, pinning me between both vehicles and driving off as if nothing happened.”
Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said the suspect, identified as 68-year-old white male David Williams, was driving a Chevy SUV when he struck Bowman and pinned her between the two vehicles.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported Bowman to Delta Health-The Medical Center, where she was treated and later released. Bowman said her injuries included superficial bruising, strain of right shoulder, contusion of rib on right side, strain of lumbar region, contusion of right thigh, contusion of right lower leg, contusion of right ankle, post traumatic muscle contracture following injury.
A warrant for aggravated assault has been issued for Williams.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Merchant said.
