An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who Greenville police say shot and killed his girlfriend and left her body to be found inside her home.
The Greenville Police Department obtained the warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old black male LaJerrick Brown for the murder of his girlfriend, whose name has not been released to media, said assistant police chief Michael Merchant.
At 5:04 p.m. Monday, May 17, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Colorado Street in reference to a welfare concern for a woman who had not been seen for a few days.
“Concerned citizens advised they had not heard from a neighbor in a few days,” said Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant. “It was also reported the victim had not shown up to work.”
Members of the Greenville Fire Department were also dispatched to force entry into the home, where a 35-year-old black female was found dead inside.
The woman’s body was found inside the home with several gunshot wounds, according to Merchant. Emergency medical personnel along with the Washington County Coroner responded and she was pronounced deceased on scene.
“Brown should not be approached but contact with law enforcement should be made,” Merchant said, noting Brown may have ties in the Greenville area and the Mayersville area.
