A man has turned himself in to police in for the shooting death of a woman he was in a relationship with.
Sanders Williams, 53, turned himself in to the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department for shooting and killing Wanda Williams, 53, in the couple’s home in the 1400 block of Ollie Circle, according to Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant.
Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the couple's home in reference to a shot person, Merchant said.
Once on scene, Wanda was found dead on the bedroom floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel and the Washington County Coroner responded to the scene, where Wanda was pronounced dead.
Sanders and Wanda had been married before and were still living together, but it was unclear if they were still married at the time of the shooting, Merchant said.
“(They) were believed to be in a relationship,” Merchant said. “The motive for this incident is unclear at this time.”
Sanders was transported to the Greenville Police Department, where he is being held until further notice. He has been charged with murder and no bond has been set at this time.
