Local police are investigating the shooting death of a woman found with multiple gunshot wounds in her home this morning.
Shortly after 9 a.m. today, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1400 block of Ollie Circle in reference to a shot person, Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said.
“Upon arrival, they confirmed a black female had been shot multiple times,” he said, noting emergency medical personnel and the Washington County Coroner responded to the scene.
The 53-year-old victim, whose name has not been released due to pending family notification, was pronounced dead on scene.
“Investigators of the Criminal Investigation Division are actively following up this incident,” Merchantg said.
