The Greenville Police Department said early Sunday, March 31, the GPD received a call from the Emergency Room of Delta Health Systems about a woman who had been shot.
Police responded to the ER and identified the victim, 23-year-old Akayla Ware, who was shot multiple times.
Hospital personnel advised the victim would be transported to another facility for further treatment.
Witnesses say that the shooting stemmed from an altercation earlier that night, and police will release further information as it becomes available.
