Greenville’s first homicide of the year took place this week.
At about 10:20 p.m. Monday, the Greenville Police Department received a call of shots being fired in the area of Spruce and Ninth streets.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered a black male had suffered several gunshot wounds to his body.
