Delta Center Stage’s next production, The 39 Steps, opens Thursday.
The comedy is an adaptation from an Alfred Hitchcock movie and follows Richard Hannay following a murder accusation.
Hannay is played by Alfred Redmond and Floyd Sterling directs the show.
“He is erroneously wanted for murder and in the course of his misadventure, he will be hunted, pursued, stalked, chased and shot with hilarious results,” Sterling said. “WE hope the British humor in this translates to the Delta sensibilities.”
The show is described as a Hitchcock masterpiece mixed with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, dozens of zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of six), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance.
Other than Redmond, Tatyana James, Betsy Bostic, Zack Woodard, Dave Adams and Jon Alverson play a cast of characters who accompany Redmond along the path of the story.
Showtimes are Thursday, Friday & Saturday 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinee 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for Adults are $10, Under 16 or any Student ID are $6. Tickets are on sale at E.E. Bass Office, Grounded Sister/Downtown Butcher, The Shoppes on South Main or online at https://www.deltastage.com/ticket_listings.html.
