The Greater Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council (THE DIVINE9) warmed the hearts and bodies of hundreds of children and adults during the cold and chilly days and nights in January. Each Greek organization donated and purchased coats, hats, scarfs and gloves to be taken to schools, Sacred Space, St. Vincent de Paul and the homeless.
The organization, once active in 1991 through 1996 worked to bring the community together by sponsoring projects and attending conferences. Due to lack of leadership, the Council became inactive. In April 2023, the idea of reactivating the council was presented by Eta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to come together and make a difference in the community. The Greater-Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council was officially chartered September 22, 2024 via Zoom at New Hope Baptist Church. The purpose of the organization is to maintain and foster inter-Greek relationships, and to encourage unity and purposeful action by promoting the general welfare of men, women, and children.
Many projects have been implemented by the Greater-Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council since its beginning. Some of the involvement includes: National Night Out where Backpacks with school supplies were distributed, refreshments, games and a Non-Violence Poster Contest. The Greater Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council partnered with the Black Voters Matter Phone Bank during Election 2024 and also participated in the Family Wish Tree, donating clothes and toys to families for Christmas.
The goals of the Greater-Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council shall continue to promote unity between the nine member organizations, promote unified community involvement, enhance public awareness and maintain the organization’s history. The organizations that form the Greater Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council are Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
