GLEN ALLAN, Mississippi - Faye Ruth Holley Stokes, 87, of Glen Allan, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 1, 2025, at 11:03 p.m. A woman of enduring faith, unwavering love, and quiet strength, Faye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life reflected humility, service, and grace.
Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lake Washington First Baptist Church in Glen Allan, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 1p.m. Pastor Jimmy McLendon will officiate. Graveside services will follow at County Line Cemetery in Glen Allan.
Faye was born on October 2, 1937, in Chatham to the late Mark Preston Holley and Georgia Pauline Hatcher. She was a longtime member of Lake Washington First Baptist Church and lived a life marked by quiet faith and steadfast character. In her professional life, she owned a chemical depot and served as the bookkeeper for Mayersville Gin Company.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donny Ray Stokes Sr.; her daughters, Donna Stokes Harden and Tammy Stokes Brown (husband, Ronny "R.B." Brown); her parents; and her siblings: James Holley, Harry Holley, Nellie Moore, and Mark Cecil Holley.
Faye is survived by her son, Donny Ray Stokes Jr. (Jenna) of Brandon; her sisters, Betty Carr of Gulfport, Sue Pyles of McHenry, and Jackie Holley (Suzy) of Egypt; her three grandchildren: Michael Gene Harden Jr. (Katie), Dustin Stokes Harden (Kelsey), and Madeline Swayze Stokes; and her three great-grandchildren: Makinlee Kate Harden, Michael Hendrix Harden, and Savannah Faye Harden.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandson, Michael Gene Harden Jr. (Katie), along with nephews Danny Holley, James Holley Jr., Barry Oakes, Mark Oakes, and Shorty Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will include her grandson, Dustin Stokes Harden (Kelsey); her nephew, Greg Holley; as well as Coy Cox, Art Arrington, Matt Sharpe, Jeffery Bruton, and others who held her dear.
Faye will always be remembered as the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could ever hope for. She was a woman of great humility and unwavering integrity.
She was known far and wide as the best cook around, and everyone loved her home-cooked meals - especially her fried chocolate pies, fried apricot pies, potato dumplings, fried okra, and coconut cake. Her kitchen was filled with love, laughter, and the kind of meals that brought everyone together.
To her son, Donny Ray Stokes Jr., she was his best friend, his biggest fan, and the best mother and friend anyone could ever hope for.
Faye's life was deeply rooted in her love for and unwavering faith in God the Father and His only Son, Jesus Christ. She lived with quiet conviction and grace, always striving to reflect the compassion, humility, and strength that came from her walk with Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Lake Washington First Baptist Church or Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. The family expresses sincere thanks to all who have supported them during this time of loss.
