INDIANOLA, Mississippi - Frank Cade, 92, died Friday, June 20, 2025, at his home near Indianola, MS. His funeral service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025, at his church, Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church, 617 Westside Ave., Indianola followed by internment at Byas Cemetery, BB King Rd., Indianola. Visitation will be held from 4- 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Byas Funeral Home, 407 Front Street Ext., Indianola.
Mr. Cade was born May 7, 1933, in Belzoni to William M. and Mattie D. Cade. He went on to serve his country and had a successful life in the US Armed Services. In 1954 he was a member of the first graduating class of the Indianola Colored High School (later Gentry High School). August 24, 1954, he joined the United States Air Force where he served until February 7, 1958, with an honorable discharge. On February 26, 1959, he joined the United States Army, where he received several accommodations and Decorations. He proudly served in the Army until his retirement on November 30, 1976. After military service, Mr. Cade entered civilian employment and entrepreneurship, which included retirement from Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia.
In October of 1963 he married Virgie Lee Johnes and in this union no children were born and in 1970 this marriage ended. On October 29, 1975, he married Ida V. McClease-Hilliman until her passing in 2001.
Frank and Ida successfully raised 10 children and supported a host of grands. In 2010 he married a longtime sweetheart and a high school classmate, Lillian Moore, also of Indianola. This Marriage remained intact until his death.
He leaves to mourn his dearly beloved wife Lillian (Moore) Cade and his daughters: Marilyn (Andrew) Sawn of Texas; Shirlene Smith of Norfolk, Virginia; Valire Herron of Portsmouth, Virginia; Rhona "Diane" (Jeff) Horton of Triangle, Virginia; Shelia Manderville, of Portsmouth, Tonia "Tiny" Hillman of Norfolk; Diana Hillman (Lynnette) of Norfolk, and his son Zachary (Robin) of Chesapeake. He was loved by 25 Grandchildren. 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by three children and four grandchildren.
