Local authorities are searching for the person responsible for the shooting death of a man this weekend.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday night, officers with the Greenville Police Department received a call in reference to a shooting in the 400 block of Mississippi 1 S., according to assistant police chief Michael Merchant.
Officers found a 22-year-old black male, who was identified as Garland Jackson, laying in the parking lot of Wash-N-Go.
“Emergency medical personnel responded and the Washington County Corner was notified, at which time the victim was pronounced deceased,” he said.
Merchant said Garland’s death is being investigated as a homicide and officers are following up on all leads.
“We will provide more information as it becomes available,” he said.
