As the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases continues to rise, so does the demand for sanitization and deep cleaning, especially in work environments of governmental offices.
Hence, the Washington County Board of Supervisors voted to grant a temporary pay adjustment for two Buildings and Grounds department employees who serve as the on-call COVID-19 emergency response team, as requested by Building and Grounds director Donald Davis.
As the designated COVID-19 emergency response team, they are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the county’s facilities whenever such is needed.
“When there’s a call about COVID-19 being at one of our buildings, they go out after hours or during the day and go in and clean the building,” Davis said.
The temporary pay adjustment of an additional $172 per month will be in effect for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency response team’s active designation.
District 4 Supervisor Mala Brooks made a motion to grant the temporary pay adjustment established by the BOS and District 1 Supervisor Lee Gordon seconded the motion, which was unanimously carried.
