Christmas is already in the air in Leland as festive floats for Deer Creek are being prepped.
For now, the annual Christmas on Deer Creek is planned to take place Dec. 5, but detailed plans still haven’t been made due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19.
In year’s past, the Christmas event has taken place on the Rainbow Connection Bridge in Leland and has featured holiday melodies performed by local choirs, a special arrival from Santa Claus, pop-up shops and more.
Leland Chamber Director Mary Anne Brocato said they hope to make a final decision sometime next week.
“We’re going to decide next week whether or not we’re going to have it,” Brocato said. “But, we’re still going to have the floats out and we’re working on getting them together now.”
About 30 floats are anticipated to be out on Deer Creek during the holidays for motorists to admire.
