Mayor Errick D. Simmons has announced the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) will host its annual canned food drive and they are asking local residents join the MYC in donating canned foods items to families in need within the community.
The canned foods collected will assist Hearty Helpings Food Pantry, St. Vincent De Paul, and the Community Holiday Fund affiliated with the Community Foundation of Washington County. Non-perishable and canned food items can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday until Dec. 11 at City Hall, 340 Main St., and Headquarters Fire Station, at 532 Central St.
“Greenville’s greatest asset is its ability to show compassion for others. Through their volunteerism and service, the Mayor’s Youth Council continues to show its compassion for those in need with their holiday canned food drive. I encourage all those who can, to donate to this worthy cause,” Simmons said.
