Delta Cotton Belles and the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA have partnered to celebrate breast cancer survivors with the Positively Pink & Proud Breast Cancer Survivors Walk set for Saturday, Oct. 26.
This inaugural event will be held on the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA track beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 10 a.m. There is no fee to walk, but donations are welcome.
The Positively Pink & Proud Walk is the brainchild of the Delta Cotton Belles Thrivers group who have not been able to travel to attend breast cancer walks throughout the state but wanted to walk with their family and friends to celebrate their lives.
“We are encouraging everyone young and old to come out, wear pink, and support our survivors by walking with them on this short part of their journey,” said Docia England, Delta Cotton Belles Wrapped in Pink Chairman.
The non-competitive walk is designed for all to walk at their own pace and as many laps that they feel they can handle. Highlighting the event is the importance of breast health and education as well as supporting those ladies that have been on this healing journey.
Participants can register the morning of the walk and are encouraged to wear their pink attire.
“The goal is for all who attend to walk in a pace that they are comfortable with and we have already declared all participants winners,” said Angela Phillips, Delta Cotton Belles Thrivers Chairman.
Carol Cashion Doolittle, Delta Cotton Belles President, said, “Thank you to the YMCA for sharing this activity with us as we celebrate those who will be walking and/or visiting with everyone for the morning. I encourage everyone to join us for this celebratory occasion.”
Join the Delta Cotton Belles and Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA teams and Thrivers Oct. 26 at 8 a.m. and walk a mile or sashay in style with the group.
The YMCA is located at 1688 Fairgrounds Road, Greenville. For more information, call 662-390-6009.
