Eli Fratesi’s love of sports rubbed off on his twin sister, Ava, at an early age.
“He was always with a ball,” Ava said. “Ever since I can remember, he was always out playing sports. Watching him have so much fun made me want to try and play sports too. I have been cheering for him my whole life.”
Ava and Eli are now seniors at Washington School, and they have continued their passion for sports. Eli, who also plays football and baseball, is currently one of the leading goal scorers on the General soccer team, which has a 12-1 record and is looking to hoist a state championship trophy in the next few weeks.
Ava, meanwhile, stays busy year round as a cheerleader, a tennis player and a soccer player.
While Ava has always admired her brother’s athletic ability, Eli said he admires his sisters’ intelligence and work ethic, as well as her singing voice.
“I admire how she accomplishes whatever she puts her mind to,” Eli said.
Both Eli and Ava said it has been a blessing growing up with a twin.
“It is nice knowing that I have him so close by all the time. I know he can protect me and always be there for me,” Ava said.
Eli said his sister’s example has helped him throughout his life.
“Whenever I even consider doing something wrong, I know that she is close by and I do not want to let her down,” Eli said.
The siblings said they are thankful for all the coaches and teachers who have helped them throughout their careers at Washington School. They also said they have made a number of close friends, who they hope to stay in touch with for the rest of their lives.
Ava said she hopes to study interior design in college, and Eli said he is likely to study agricultural science.
But, wherever their lives may take them as adults, they each said it is nice to know they will always have each other.
