A Greenville teenager is behind bars for the stabbing death of his uncle.
At 1:13 p.m. Monday, July 15, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Belfast Street. Inside the home, officers found the body of a 37-year-old black male, who has been identified as Jermaine Sanders.
Emergency medical personnel and the Washington County Coroner was sent to the scene. Jermaine Sanders was pronounced dead on scene.
Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said investigators determined Sanders was stabbed to death by his nephew, 18-year-old Angelou Sanders.
“The motive may have been a previous altercation between the two,” Merchant said. “Jermaine Sanders appeared to have been stabbed several times during the incident.”
Angelou Sanders has been charged with murder and was arraigned Wednesday, July 17, by Judge Michael Prewitt and given a $250,000 bond.
Angelou Sanders had not posted bond as of press time Thursday.
