Mayor Errick D. Simmons has announced a partnership with the Delta Health Center and Greenville Public School District providing free drive-thru COVID-19 testing. Free testing will be offered to all comers, asymptomatic and symptomatic, with no required appointment nor pre-screening. The drive-through testing will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at T.L. Weston Middle School, 901 Archer St., Greenville. Free masks will also be provided by the Mayor’s Health Council during this event.
Statement of Mayor Errick D. Simmons
“We have seen across the county, here in Mississippi, and in our own local community the increase of confirmed COVID-19 cases. I salute DHC CEO John Fairman and the DHC for their leadership and invaluable work in providing free testing in the Mississippi Delta and throughout the state. Additionally, I would like to thank Delta Regional Medical Center and Greenville Public School District for being strong partners in this effort.”
Statement of DHC CEO John Fairman
“It is important that we remove all barriers to COVID 19 testing and offer this service to the public as many people are asymptomatic and spreading the virus unknowingly. The disproportionate impact this virus has on the poor health status of many persons in the Delta makes this a critical necessity for our community.”
Statement of Superintendent Dr. Debra Dace
“On behalf of GPSD, I would just like to say thanks to the Mayor’s Office and the Delta Health Center for coming together to host this event and provide free testing for our parents, students, educators, stakeholders, and residents inside of this community. This is great for everyone involved and as part of GPSD we are always open to collaborating with our partners.”
