County engineers are in the process of assembling a plan for all bridges currently closed in Washington County for submission to the Office of State Aid Road Construction’s (OSARC) state aid projects.
The Washington County Board of Supervisors were informed of the plan at their regular Monday meeting.
There are currently 40 bridges closed in the county, but two of those bridges — Wilmont and Sandifer roads — are underway for revitalization.
“Right now, we’re working on our design for Wilmot Road,” county engineer Lorenzo Anderson informed the BOS.
The structure of the Wilmot Road bridge has shifted and will be addressed with in-house forces using the county bridge department.
On Sandifer Road, the road department has removed the old bridge and it is now in the construction phase according to Anderson.
OSARC’s request entails a plan of action for how the county will address its closed bridges and determines funding for such projects.
