With a fresh season on the horizon, GHS Tennis Head Coach Jaslyn Barrow is ready to build on last year’s success. The tennis team is currently 2-0 this season following their first big district win against Gentry High School with a score of 6-1. Now in her second year leading the team, Barrow has a clear vision for what’s ahead.
“Last season was an incredible experience for all of us,” Barrow said. “The team worked hard, supported each other, and stepped up when it mattered.”
She credits last year’s success to strong team chemistry, effective coaching strategies, and the dedication of her players. But despite the strong season, Barrow knows there’s still room to grow.
“This year, we’re focusing on improving our mental toughness and physical conditioning,” she explained. “Tennis is just as much a mental game as it is physical, and I want our players to feel confident in high-pressure moments.”
While winning the local championship is always a goal, she also wants to see overall player development, increased community support, and a stronger junior program to keep the team competitive in the years to come.
“Of course, we want to win, but my biggest focus is helping these players grow both on and off the court,” Barrow said. “If we can improve every match and learn from every experience, I’ll consider that a success.”
One thing she’s especially passionate about is teamwork. “Tennis may seem like an individual sport, but team support makes all the difference,” she emphasized. “When a player knows their teammates have their back, it boosts their confidence and helps them perform better. If we put in the work now, we’ll be ready for whatever comes our way.”
With Barrow’s leadership and the team’s determination, GHS Tennis is set for another exciting season. Fans can expect to see a hardworking, unified squad ready to make an impact on the court.
