Under the leadership of second year head coach Jaslyn Barrow, the Greenville High School golf team is looking to the hills. Coach Barrow said in a recent interview she expects great things this upcoming season. In just a few weeks, the Hornets will step on the greens on August 27th with Cleveland Central and West Tallahatchie in Webb, MS.
Coach Barrow explains that tennis is a little unique. Teams around the Delta have “stroke practices” with one another teams until it is time for district play, which is set to begin on October 3,2024 this year.
During last season’s tenure, Hornets’ standout player Leo Jennings lll excelled during the season with honorable mention performances which carried the team most of the season. Coach Barrow admits that “even though last season was new and challenging, we met some of our team goals”.
The Hornets placed 1st and 2nd during numerous stroke practices. “This year, I plan to work more closely with the players and have extra assistance while we practice for the upcoming stroke practices. I also look forward to having a full team and making it past the district tournament”.
The Hornets’ host stroke practices will be held at the Greenville Municipal Golf Course.
