Mayor Errick D. Simmons and the Greenville City Council on Monday selected Denver Air Connection as the next airline to serve the Greenville Mid-Delta Regional Airport. The decision was made during the council’s regular meeting and marks a key step toward improving commercial air service in the region.
The selection followed a thorough review process that included community engagement efforts. City officials considered service reliability, destination access, and community input when evaluating proposals. Airport Director Levell Hawkins acknowledged the complexity of the process, saying, “The board had a tough job to try and make a decision.”
Denver Air Connection will replace the current carrier, Contour Airlines, later this year, pending final federal approval. The airline is expected to offer regular flights to a major connecting hub, which city leaders hope will increase travel options, boost local economic development, and enhance regional connectivity for residents and businesses.
