Greenville student Jakkula Chaitanya has been chosen as the Doodle for Google Competition winner for the state of Mississippi. Being chosen as the state-wide Doodle for Google winner, Chaitanya is now eligible to become the national winner of the competition.
The Doodle for Google Competition is designed to encourage eligible U.S. school students and their parents/guardians on their behalf to use their creativity to create their own interpretation of the Google logo. The theme for this year’s Doodle for Google competition was “I am strong because…” In response to the contest’s theme, Chaitanya, a first grader at Armstrong Elementary School, drew a picture of his family. His picture description reads, “I love my family. My parents work very hard so I can get the things we need and want. My grandparents teach values, culture, and tradition. My sister helps me with homework. My family watches and care for me even when I grow up.”
People can help Chaitanya become the national winner by voting for his drawing online at doodles.google.com/d4g/. Voting begins May 10 and ends May 14 at 11:59 p.m. PST. If chosen as the national winner, he will win a college scholarship.
