LITTLE ELM, Texas - Helen King DeShazer was born on November 10, 1944, to the late Jessie Sewell King and Harden King Sr. in Hollandale. She was the firstborn of 13 children. She attended school at Norma C. O'Bannon High School in Greenville, Mississippi where she was the school's first homecoming queen in 1960. Helen lived in Little Elm, Texas but her home was Greenville. She peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with her family around her,
Helen was a dedicated manager of The Douglas Club (Sylvester White Sr.) in Greenville where she made many friends and influenced many young women to live a better life. She will be remembered by many as a beautiful soul whose relentless spirit shaped those around her. Helen previously worked for the Boeing Company as an Office Administrator and retired from there. She was full of laughter and joy and loved life and didn't let anything get her down.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Roosevelt Leon Deshazer, Earl Williams, (common-law husband), her daughter Rosalyn Kaye DeShazer and four siblings: Winston, Tommye, Brenda and Catherine. She is survived by her children: Pastor Roosevelt (Fern) Deshazer Sr., Gwendolyn (William Jr.) Lee and Toma (Michelle) King Sr.; siblings: Harden (Delores) King, Dennis (Margaret) King, Thomas (Dolly) King, Leathe King, Carolyn (Charles) Spencer, Kathy (Rodney) Chadwick, Kenneth (Terry) King Sr., Deborah (Camara) Freeman, Avery Carr, Canolia (Curtis) Carey, and Anita (Scott) Miller; great uncles: Pastor Roy T. Sewell Jr. (98 years old), Ralph Sewell; great aunt: Carrie Lee Sewell. Helen also leaves 12 grandchildren: Myisha (Daniel), RoShea, Roosevelt Jr., Christopher (Salim), Marcus, Toma Jr., TreQaun, William III, Steven, Aaron, Sierra, and Samiya; 18 great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Adrein Jr., Destiny, Gabriella, Braxton, Amelia, Braelynn, Desmond, Jody, Braysen, Ayden, Roosevelt III, Dylann, Savannah, Daniel III, Dani, Roy, and Tr'Javeyon and more than 300-plus, nieces, nephews and cousins on the sides of the Sewell, King, and the Deshazer families whom she loved very much and was cherished by all.
Her legacy will live on with her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and entire family. She always told all her children "Do the Best you can at all times, that's all you can do and it will be alright." She will always be missed by those who loved and adored her.
