ROLLING FORK, Mississippi - Jason Brandy Martin, lovingly known as “Jay Bird,” passed away on November 15, 2025, from unexpected medical complications following recent kidney surgery in New York City. Born on January 6, 1974, in Greenville, Mississippi, Jay was a lifelong resident of Rolling Fork—a community he loved deeply and served wholeheartedly.
Jay graduated from Sharkey-Issaquena Academy and later attended Mississippi Delta Community College. After college, he worked at Martin Farms, and later he and his dad owned and operated Martin Plantation. Over the last several years, Jay also owned Delta Parts in Rolling Fork, where he was proud to support local farmers and serve the community he loved. Farming and service were more than jobs to Jay—they were a calling, a way of life, and something he pursued with dedication, pride, and love for his community and family.
Jay never met a stranger. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and warm smile made everyone feel welcome.
He was hardworking, humble, and loving—qualities that defined him as a farmer, a friend, a brother, a son, a devoted father, a husband, and a proud grandfather.
A devoted man of faith, Jay was a member of First Baptist Church of Anguilla, where he faithfully served as a deacon. He was also committed to his community, serving as a Commissioner of the Soil and Water Conservation District since 2009, a role he took great pride in.
Jay is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Martin; his daughters, Katy Ann (Ben) Dodd of Sunflower and Mary Grayson (Sackett) Vickers of Rolling Fork, MS; his precious granddaughter, Ann Birdie; and his beloved lab, Bentley.
He is also survived by his loving parents, Jerry and Kathy Martin; his sister, Sherree (Heath) Steed; his nieces and a nephew; and his brothers-in-law, Anthony (Kim) Williamson of Richland and John Williamson of Hattiesburg, along with extended family he deeply loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chris and Mary Martin, and T.D. and Sara Boykin.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, with visitation on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m., also at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
