The Riverside High School varsity football team celebrated its first victory under new coach Terrell Spencer with the Bulldogs’ 13-0 road win at McAdams on Friday night, and J’Kaveon Gatson had a big role in it.
Gatson had 130 yards receiving on four completions and one touchdown from Bulldog Aaron Stewart. He also had two interceptions, returning one for an 85 yard touchdown. Both of Gatson’s touchdowns occurred in the second quarter. Gatson added to his night with five touchdowns.
“Stewart to Gatson was very good for us,” Coach Spencer said.
“This win means a lot to us. It gives up some positive momentum heading into district play. We have gone through some growing pains, but we are learning from our mistakes which is key.”
Riverside travels to Leflore County next Friday.
