O’Bannon High School’s Zacorin Benson’s 50-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter proved to be the game winner in the Greenwaves 14-12 road victory over MS Palmer last Friday night.
O’Bannon’s Mark Hollins ran in a 10-yard touchdown for the Greenwaves’ first score in the first quarter.
O’Bannon improved its record to 3-2 with the victory.
“We played in horrible rainy conditions, but our guys stayed consistent and we were able to come out with the win,” O’Bannon coach Lynn Lang said.
Coach Lang credited his team’s defense for not letting go in the game. Defensive end Keegan Williams had nine tackles in the game and Zacorin Benson registered eight tackles.
Cardrio Calvin also had an interception.
The Greenwaves will open Region 3-2A play this Friday night at Northside (4-1).
“We are in the SEC West with Northside and Charleston and all of those schools. We are just going to to have to come out and compete,” Coach Lang said.
