The Greenville Public School District Board of Trustees is allowing for additional time as they continue the search for a new superintendent to be hired in the upcoming school term.
“We have three potential candidates. We do have some more we need to interview and we just need to approve that so we can extend the search efforts,” board president Jan Vaughn during the Feb. 22 regular meeting of the trustees.
The board’s decision to extend the search was unanimous and their objective is to seek a qualified applicant to provide leadership to GPSD for next school term beginning July.
“The application process is conducted by Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) and has been extended through March 11. MSBA will then provide the information regarding the candidates to us and we will begin round two of the interview process,” Vaughn said in a statement. “Once the interviews are completed, the board will deliberate and will make a decision as to who will be the superintendent of the GPSD for the upcoming school term. The decision will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.”
She added, “The GPSD Board of Trustees remains transparent during this process and will provide future updates. Foremost, we remain committed to academic excellence, student success and improving the district’s accountability rating.”
