A new superintendent of the Greenville Public School District will soon be named as the Mississippi School Board Association continues to lead the search.
Ahead of an executive session held Wednesday during a special meeting of the GPSD Board of Trustees, board member and superintendent search spokesperson Jan Vaughn announced the second round of applications submitted to the Mississippi School Board Association garnered 11 applicants.
Interviews were conducted during Wednesday’s meeting.
“The search has been narrowed and the board will be naming a new superintendent at an upcoming regular board meeting,” Vaughn said in a statement. “The GPSD Board of Trustees has been patient in our search to select the best of the best candidates for our Chief Executive Officer. We remain focused on improving student achievement and the district’s accountability rating.”
GPSD’s next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.
