A Greenville man who has been wanted by police since May for rape, kidnapping and house burglary was arrested Monday in Oklahoma.
On Saturday, May 21, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Highland Plantation Road in reference to a sexual assault.
When officers arrived to the scene, they made contact with the 25-year-old victim who stated she was sleeping when Tyvon Brown entered her bedroom window by pushing the air conditioning unit out. Once Brown entered the home, it is alleged that he then threatened the victim’s life and took her by force to his vehicle, where he drove her to an undisclosed location, where the victim said the sexual assault took place in Brown’s vehicle.
The Greenville Police Department Investigations Division obtained a warrant for the arrest of Tyvon Brown, but have been unable to locate him due to Brown leaving the State. The U.S. Marshals Service took Brown into custody Monday, Nov. 14, in Enid, Oklahoma, after a Governor’s warrant was signed for extradition.
Brown is now back in Greenville and in custody at the Washington County Correctional Facility, awaiting his initial court appearance.
