As the month of October winds down, the Mayor’s Health Council is winding up to host free upcoming health events for community members to take advantage of.
A 12th installment of the Mayor’s Health Council “Health is Wealth” series is set for 9 a.m. until noon Friday at Delta Terrace, 810 S. Theobald St.
Covid-19 vaccines, boosters, flu shots and pneumonia vaccines provided by Walgreens will be offered at the event.
Blood pressure, blood sugar, HIV and STD screenings as well as PAP Smears and Mammogram referrals will be provided by Plan A, along with family planning and women’s health information and education materials.
Free face masks, hand sanitizer and at-home Covid-19 test kits will be available while supplies last.
Additional event sponsors include the City of Greenville, Delta Health System - The Medical Center, Delta Health Center, Boots to Beyond, Inc., Plan A, Pilgrim Rest Church, Sacred Heart Church, Vessels of Mercy Church Greenville Police Department and Excel Community Schools.
Inclement weather will cancel the event.
Pink Check-Up
The Mayor’s Health Council, in partnership with Vessels of Mercy Church, will also host “Pink Check-Up,” a free breast screening event slated for 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, at Vessels of Mercy Church, 712 McAllister St.
During the Pink Check event, breast screenings and blood pressure screenings will be performed by qualified practitioners.
The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
